Do Not Envy the Wicked

Posted by admin on June 12, 2014 in Uncategorized with Comments closed |

Psalm 37

Living Bible (TLB)

Never envy the wicked!  Soon they fade away like grass and disappear.  Trust in the Lord instead. Be kind and good to others; then you will live safely here in the land and prosper, feeding in safety.

Be delighted with the Lord. Then he will give you all your heart’s desires.  Commit everything you do to the Lord. Trust him to help you do it, and he will. Your innocence will be clear to everyone. He will vindicate you with the blazing light of justice shining down as from the noonday sun.

Rest in the Lord; wait patiently for him to act. Don’t be envious of evil men who prosper.

Stop your anger! Turn off your wrath. Don’t fret and worry—it only leads to harm. For the wicked shall be destroyed, but those who trust the Lord shall be given every blessing.  Only a little while and the wicked shall disappear. You will look for them in vain.  But all who humble themselves before the Lord shall be given every blessing and shall have wonderful peace.

The Lord is laughing at those who plot against the godly, for he knows their judgment day is coming.  Evil men take aim to slay the poor; they are ready to butcher those who do right.  But their swords will be plunged into their own hearts, and all their weapons will be broken.

It is better to have little and be godly than to own an evil man’s wealth;  for the strength of evil men shall be broken, but the Lord takes care of those he has forgiven.

Day by day the Lord observes the good deeds done by godly men, and gives them eternal rewards.  He cares for them when times are hard; even in famine, they will have enough.  But evil men shall perish. These enemies of God will wither like grass and disappear like smoke.  Evil men borrow and “cannot pay it back”! But the good man returns what he owes with some extra besides.  Those blessed by the Lord shall inherit the earth, but those cursed by him shall die.

The steps of good men are directed by the Lord. He delights in each step they take.  If they fall, it isn’t fatal, for the Lord holds them with his hand.

I have been young and now I am old. And in all my years I have never seen the Lord forsake a man who loves him; nor have I seen the children of the godly go hungry.  Instead, the godly are able to be generous with their gifts and loans to others, and their children are a blessing.

So if you want an eternal home, leave your evil, low-down ways and live good lives.  For the Lord loves justice and fairness; he will never abandon his people. They will be kept safe forever; but all who love wickedness shall perish.

The godly shall be firmly planted in the land and live there forever. The godly man is a good counselor because he is just and fair and knows right from wrong.

Evil men spy on the godly, waiting for an excuse to accuse them and then demanding their death.  But the Lord will not let these evil men succeed, nor let the godly be condemned when they are brought before the judge.

Don’t be impatient for the Lord to act! Keep traveling steadily along his pathway and in due season he will honor you with every blessing, and you will see the wicked destroyed.  I myself have seen it happen: a proud and evil man, towering like a cedar of Lebanon, but when I looked again, he was gone! I searched but could not find him!  But the good man—what a different story! For the good man—the blameless, the upright, the man of peace—he has a wonderful future ahead of him. For him there is a happy ending.  But evil men shall be destroyed, and their posterity shall be cut off.

The Lord YHWH saves the godly! He is their salvation and their refuge when trouble comes.  Because they trust in him, he helps them and delivers them from the plots of evil men.

Once upon a time there was an evil, ugly, hideous sorcerer, who lived as an outcast because of his evil ways.  One day, an evil, ugly, hideous witch, transformed herself into a beautiful girl and went out to find the evil, ugly, hideous sorcerer, to trick him into helping her.  You see, the witch had a brother who was set to marry the queen of a large, wealthy, beautiful kingdom, a queen who fell in love with the witch’s brother and was going to have a child, heir to her kingdom, with the man.  But, the witch, was jealous and angry and decided that she would steal the kingdom from the queen, by imprisoning her brother and the queen after the child was born, but the witch needed the evil sorcerer’s power to ensure her evil plan succeeded.  So, once the witch transformed into a beautiful girl, she went to the outskirts of the land to find the evil, ugly, hideous sorcerer and trick him.  The evil sorcerer saw the young girl coming toward him and he went to hide in his cave.  But, the witch, using the disguise of the young lady, called out to him and said she loved him and had been searching for him all her life.  The evil sorcerer believed the lie and together they set out to destroy the queen and the witch’s brother.  In the kingdom of the queen, the child was born and he was a son: a beautiful, pure, innocent baby boy.  Soon after the boy was born, the evil sorcerer and evil witch captured and locked up the queen in the dungeon of her own castle and transformed the witch’s brother into a slimy, putrid, green and brown spotted toad; no one ever saw him again.  Now, the evil sorcerer and evil witch took over the queen’s castle and kingdom and pretended to be the baby boy’s parents.  Once the true queen died in the dungeon, the evil sorcerer and evil witch ate her corpse and became even more evil and disgusting.  The baby boy grew up, not knowing the truth and grew strong and handsome.  And for 20 years, the kingdom was ruled by impostors, and the evil sorcerer and evil witch grew more insatiable for their wickedness and had children of their own.  But, these children were monsters, a product of the sorcerer and witch’s evil, cursed by the gods.  One, a girl, grotesque and hideous, with boils and warts, and the other, a boy, filthy and stinky, an anathema.  So, the sorcerer and witch hid their daughter and son in a different land, far away from the eyes of all the good people of the queen’s kingdom.  On the prince’s 21st birthday, he went out for a walk in the glade and there he saw the most beautiful woman he had ever seen.  She was petting her horse and her long, flowing hair was floating softly in the breeze, covering her shoulders with soft, gentle, beauty.  She saw the prince and invited him over to her.  The prince was happy to oblige the princess and he went to her.  The princess was from another kingdom across the river, ruled by a kind, honorable and gentle King and Queen.  The princess was so beautiful that the prince decided that he must win her heart.  The princess was foolish and young, as most princesses her age, and she loved adventure and mystery.  The prince gave her expensive gifts and took her on exciting journeys to uncharted parts of the land.  They were in love, falling faster and faster.  The day came to finally meet the prince’s parents, and when the princess saw the evil sorcerer and evil witch, she was terrified.  She told the prince that she could no longer see him and that rumors had began to spread over to her kingdom about the true identity of the prince’s parents.  So, the princess ran away.  The prince followed her and told her that the rumors couldn’t be true, and that the princess should give them another chance.  The princess refused and began her journey back to her own kingdom, when the evil sorcerer and evil witch caught and imprisoned her.  The prince tried to rescue the princess, but the witch threatened to turn the princess into a toad, so the prince did nothing.  Word began to travel and reached the King and Queen of the kingdom across the river.  War was declared.  All the troops, horses, men of valor, and the King himself prepared for war with the evil sorcerer and evil witch.

If a clod be washed away by the sea, Europe is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as well as if a manor of thy friend’s or of thine own were: any man’s death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind, and therefore never send to know for whom the bells tolls; it tolls for thee.”

I like seeing my daughter’s face when she opens a gift from me…I can always tell if she likes it, because her face never lies.

Do you remember that feeling?  The feeling that you love someone so much that you would buy them the moon if you could, or rent it for a day.

That’s how I feel about a very special girl in my life; my daughter.
